Kyle Tomson on Lifetime!

Something special is happening for one of my favorite app developers. I've blogged about him before and his daughter you can read about it here. Kyle has also recently come out with Rainbow Sentences app, developed to help his daughter in the next stage of her needs.

Today I want to talk about something special Kyle is doing! He is going to appear on "The Balancing Act" on April 17th, 7AM to 8AM ET/PT time, on the Lifetime Channel. You can watch the promo video for that here.

Very excited for Kyle and the apps he has created and I hope it brings more awareness to what he is doing. I hope you can all tune in and watch. Post your feedback here on the blog or on his Facebook page, I know he'd love to hear everyone's thoughts!

Apps in Review and Giveaway!~ Lost Larry By Wasabi Productions

Something exciting today readers!! We have a great app to read about and a giveaway!!

Lost Larry for iPad is about a lizard that has lost his way and only you can help bring him home! Its an amazing interactive book written by Graham Nunn, I really love the narration as well, easy to understand and it just sounds wonderful!

To help Lost Larry get home you have to use your finger to trace the path Larry needs to get home. Like with 10 Giggly Gorillas, Lost Larry is drawn beautifully. The pictures are engaging and bright, each page has objects you can touch and interact with.

While its a great book to read with your children, it can also be read to them. There is an option to have hints on for younger children. Its been a huge hit in my house and sure to in yours as well. It also great because of the fine motor use of using your pointer finger and tracing the laid out path to help Larry.

This part is my kids favorite, it wasn't until I got a hold of the app and played with it myself did I realize what they were doing. See if you don't tap it again then Larry falls, he makes this funny sound when he does, but it makes my kids laugh every time lol.

In all its another great app from Wasabi Productions! Plus they have given me three codes to giveaway!! So please make sure to stop by their Facebook page, and their Twitter, also if you don't feel like waiting to see if you won a code or if you don't win. Here is the link to buy your very own copy! Lost Larry on iTunes.

Felt Board App Review and Giveaway! ~~ By Software Smoothie

Hey everyone! Today I'm bring you all my very first giveaway!! I am very excited to be bringing you the app that has my kids glued to the ipad since I downloaded it!

So today I bring you Felt Board By Software Smoothie! They are a husband and wife team and they are pretty awesome!

So I was going to do some videos, but Racer wasn't game and CareBear couldn't stop talking into the video long enough to work with the app. lol kids

When I first opened up this app, it reminded me of  the old sticker clings sets that I used to play with when I was a kid. There are over 20+ backgrounds with over every scene possible. A variation of  felt people to use along with faces and hair. There are also faces with emotions which could be great for creating social stories for our kids! I was truly amazed at the in-depth customization you can get into with it. I played for hours myself! Then of course the kids wanted to know what mommy was doing and I haven't seen the ipad since!

CareBear likes creating boat loads of people all wearing pretty dresses (princess stage). Racers done some really cool scenes with his like this one!

There is a party on his farm and everyone is invited! He's had a lot of fun with this app! You can tell because after the party on the farm, they held an after party on the moon!

In that picture you can see there is a sidebar, each tab brings up different pieces to add to the picture. People, clothes, accessories, animals it goes on and on! If you don't like what you've added you can easily toss it into the trash can down at the bottom. There is also an easy picture taking button to save the scenes you have made!

The app is extremely easy to use, and fun as well! Look at how much Racer loved it

So here is the fun part! You can enter to win one of two promo codes I have! Entry is really easy using Rafflecopter! BUT if you don't want to wait to see if you win you can buy the code here. You can also find the developer team on Facebook and Twitter! So go....get to going and enter to win and stop by and say hello!! Tell them the YuckMouth Mommy sent you!

The Character of a Business?!

As you all know I've been in the middle of a bully/name calling battle with A4CWSN. It hasn't been pretty, I haven't enjoyed myself and when all is said and done I have done what I can to be above it.  But at some point after my private info being shared online, its gone down hill from there.

I've tried to shy away from the financial aspect of it all BUT I can share with you a blog that you can get all that information from. She's done a great job of bring forward what you all need to know.

So where to start? First off, I felt a kind of personal victory the other night....think about a week ago when I saw this

I have a point here trust me....lol

Now, all that being said, I felt bad...because while I feel like a personal victory was won it was won at a cost. That night I went to bed thinking about all that has happened at this point, I slept well for the first time because I thought it was over.

Sadly I was mistaken....The above farewell speech is very long winded and I only pulled parts of it, you can find the full version here. This is my problem...while we all thought he was gone, we carried on life. I didn't tweet the A4CWSN, I didn't @ them in any way. There was no need to until this happened.

See that tweet right there....you know the one calling me and others child porn supporters? Want to know what the hell he is talking about? Go here, because while we were all duped into thinking that JB was ok, we found out he wasn't. BUT you can also go here and see that A4CWSN had no problem taking money from him. Yet bashes us for "supporting" him.  This is what comes from the man that wants to  become a business. Not sure about you but I think I'd expect more from someone who wants to support other SN parents and expects money from others.

I "think" I would expect them to be able to rise above it all. I "think" that if I told Coca Cola that their soda tasted like swill and it ruins people brains, they wouldn't come attack me on twitter of facebook. Hell I might be wrong but I assume that they have the ability to rise above it all.

But this is my last and final problem, this is a special needs community, brought together for the sake of our children, torn apart from the greed of one man. A man for whatever reason feels the need to threaten, defame and otherwise harass other parents for what?....boredom?

I say this because there are still major developers and companies who follow this page, who support this page. What does it speak to your character? What does it say when you say nothing? What are you saying about yourself and what you sell when you are supporting a fraud and a bully? The lies and harassment have NO END....as you can see for yourself, even after a farewell post....it doesn't end.

Since getting an ipad the YuckMouths have been all over the app scene! Other then the learning apps that I have tons of we have really gotten into interactive books. Now my kids LOVE to read but there is something about a book that comes to life when you touch different parts of the book.

Today I bring you Ten Giggly Gorillas , its an app brought to you by Wasabi Productions. That link will take you to their facebook page. I find it super easy to see whats going on with an app and to keep in touch with developers by following them on their pages. Plus it gives you insight to whats next!

Ten Giggly Gorillas is a cute story about ten gorillas in a tree, you tickle each one till there is one left. The story is cute and easy to follow along. It gives you an option to read alone or have it read to you. The narrators voice is awesome as is the gorillas voices! Each of the ten gorillas say something different when touched and keep a eye out for the hidden toucan!  In addition to the book there is a memory match game with pictures of the gorillas as the cards.

The YuckMouths have quite a few books on their ipad but since downloading this one its been in constant play. They can't get enough of it! I highly recommend this app!!

YuckMouths give this app THUMBS UP!!

Out of Necessity an App is Created ~ Kyle Tomson of Mobile Ed Store

I had the great fortune to speak to Kyle Tomson today, he is the founder and President of Mobile Education Store. But first and foremost he's a dad and like most of us struggled to get help for his daughter, and after spending lots of money on useless apps that never quite fit his daughters needs he developed his own. After losing his job in 2009 and having tons of time on his hands, decided to take the fate of his daughters education into his hands. In the three months that he was off he learned all the coding it would take to do the apps  and Mobile Education Store was started. Now he has two jobs, creating great apps and returned to the job he was formerly laid off from.

Sure at first he was just filling a need for his daughter, but when he realized that he could be filling the needs for many children all over he put it on itunes and thus really began this amazing journey of apps. Ones solely built upon needs, the needs of his daughter but also the needs of so many children everywhere.

When you visit the site and I hope that you do, you will find some really great educational apps but with a fun twist. They aren't just for special needs children either, they are perfect for any child struggling with language, conversations, story building, sentences, and questions.

So here is what is making Kyle Tomson so special right now....in case you aren't part of the great community that is A4cwsn you are missing out. Over 5,000+ community members sharing ideas about apps for children with special needs. It isn't about the giveaways or the great app parties, its about being a part of a community of giving and sharing. BUT coming up we have a great app party one which Kyle Tomson of Mobile Ed Store is going to be reducing prices on some of his apps, and giving Gary some codes to giveaway. Some of which are going to include are the ones for the ipad and ipod/iphone and a new app that we the community have yet to see which is the preposition app! If this app is like the rest of the great ones he's come out with so far we will not be let down!

One last thing I would like to share with you all, and I hope you all share with any teachers you know. There is a education stimulus that schools/teachers can use but it runs out in 5 days!! Please let your teachers know that this is open for them and then send them to Mobile Education Store ! He does a lot for our community, lets get the word out! He wasn't given the first Developer of Distinction award for nothing!

The app party is next week! Running from Sept 30th to Oct. 2nd! It will be hosted right  here by Gary James. With apps from tons of developers either free or at a reduced cost!

Hope to see you there!

#techtues ~~ Apps in Review ABC Song Piano By Kiboomu

Recently I was given the special chance to review an app, so it will be the first #techtues blog that I run!

Apps are a fairly new thing for the YuckMouth house, we've played around with a few but finding the right ones to either entertain the masses and teach them at the same time can be quite the battle. Luckily I've happened upon a few good sites like A4cwsn and Kiboomu! The app I'm reviewing today is from the ladies over at Kiboomu who I've had the pleasure of tweeting with, you should totally follow them, they are awesome!!

The app is called ABC Song Piano, its available on the iphone, ipad, and itouch. Its an age appropriate app for toddlers and preschoolers and awesome for special needs kids learning their alphabet. When I first got it open I fooled with the settings, checked out the four different options, but as soon as that song played all the kids came running to see what I was doing. I gave each a turn and of course as amazed at how easy it was for them to try out the different settings and then actually record themselves playing. The loved it! So the YuckMouth clan gives 7 thumbs up!

Once I shooed them all away, tried out the different game types. I really loved the ease of switching from one type to the other. The button tabs were all easy to see and use, and the song was hilarious to hear with the barn animal sound enabled.  The letters were brightly colored and easy to hear and see, and the pace was slow enough that even my 1yr old was able to handle it and press the keys to hear the sounds. I'd say it is a great starting app, and at a great price $1.99! You can view it on the Kiboomu apps page and purchase it on itunes. My kids loved it and I loved hearing them sing the ABC song and giggle together!

Thanks to Mommy Perks for giving me my first app to review!
